[Isaac³, Thomas², John¹] born 03 February 1712/13 in Windsor, Hartford County Connecticut. She was the daughter of Isaac Bissell and Elizabeth Osborn.She married James Kilbourne 12 September 1733 in Wethersfield, Hartford County, Connecticut. They married during the early years of period known as the "Great Awakening" which had it’s height in the mid 1740's. The movement, unlike the doctrines of the Puritans promised the grace of God to all who desired it. The notion of church was as a body of saints was welcomed. Women were particularly attracted to this new style of preaching. By the time of James and Sarah’s marriage Litchfield, Wethersfield and the area had been well saturated with the "Great Awakening."
Sarah had eight children between her marriage and 1753. Her husband, along with being active in the community, ran a public house in the village of Litchfield. Litchfield was founded in 1721 and designated the county seat in 1751.
Sarah’s death date is not known. Her husband died 9 June 1762 and is buried in West Burial Ground in Litchfield. West Burial Ground is the earliest burial place in Litchfield where the pioneers are buried. Just prior to his death her husband had built a new home on the west side of North Street in Litchfield.
