Rhoda Bagley was born in 1810. She was the daughter of John Bagley and Rhoda Ranselear. She married Solomon Adams the 14th of February 1828, St. Valentine’s Day, in Lawrence County, Ohio. Their first child was born in August. Rhoda was eighteen when she married and had her first child.

Rhoda no sooner had son John when she found herself pregnant with another boy who they would name Ranselear for her mother’s family. Solomon and Rhoda had a total of 13 children.

In September 1836 while pregnant with yet another little boy Rhoda’s tiny daughter Nancy died. She also had to endure the death of son Cyrus Allen in July 1839.

Little more is known about Rhoda for once again after bearing so many children she became pregnant some time in 1847. She died in childbirth and both she and her tiny infant were buried at Clark’s Mill, Union Township, Lawrence County, Ohio.
