Mary Harrison, [Isaiah, Thomas, Richard, Rowland, John, Thomas, John, William, Thomas³, Adam², Henry De Hede¹] was born 25 May 1696 in Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York. She was the daughter of Isaiah Harrison and Elizabeth Wright. She married Robert Cravens, Sr about 1721 in "Maiden Plantation" Sussex County, Pennsylvania later Delaware.
The family settled on Cooks Creek in what was then Augusta County, now Rockingham County, Virginia about 1745. They lived near the junction of the east and west forks about 1 mile north of present day Mt. Crawford, Virginia. The East fork is known as Blacks Run today. The town of Harrisonburg is north of Mt. Crawford. In April 1746 Augusta County granted her husband permission to keep an ordinary [tavern/inn] at their home. Her husband died in 1762. At that time the family had many acres along Cooks Creek.
During the Revolutionary War Mary supplied corn to the Continental Army. Her service has been duly noted by applicants in the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution.
Mary died in April or May 1781. Her will was later destroyed during the Civil War.
