Garrett Church was born About 1611 in England. His wife was named Sarah. He is on the Winthrop Society Settlers list stating that he came to New England 1633. Other references state he came to America in 1636. His name is accepted on the rolls of the National Society of Colonial Dames XVII Century.
Garrett Church settled in Watertown, Middlesex County, Massachusetts where he is a proprietor in 1636/7, sharing with other individuals the division of land at Beaverbrook. He had several land transactions throughout his life with acres colorfully described as the Remote Meadow, Beaverbrook, and Little Cherry Meadow.
He is listed as a freeman May 2, 1649 and was active in the Watertown Church. Garrett Church served on a committee in Watertown in 1651 to see about the "sufficiency" of fences. And on at least one occasion a townsman was ordered to pay him for not setting up his part of a fence according to order.
The family had five children between 1637 and 1657 all born in Watertown. There are conflicting dates and ages given for his death which occurred in Watertown, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. However, he was still living in July 1685 when he gave acknowledgment on several deed transactions.
