Edward Bradshaw, [Raphe, Raphe, James, William, Henry, Henry, Rafe, Youette, William, Adam³, William², Robert¹] born 1604 in Wigan, Lancashire County, England. He was the son of Raphe Bradshaw and Ellen Owen.
He married Susannah Blease 06 December 1631 in St. Peter's, Chester, Cheshire, England where he settled. Edward became Sheriff of Chester in 1636. In 1637 he is listed as both Mercer and Sheriff. A mercer is a fabric dealer in especially costly fabrics. He was also a member of the Merchants Guild.
Edward bore arms described a 1 and 4; Argent between two bends sable tree mullet of the second; Bradshaw: 2 and 3; vert, a cheron Or, on an Eschocheon of pretence, Argent, a salter sable between four crescents of the 2nd; on a chief Azure a garb or bet two marlteet of the fourth....accept Azure and addition of Eschocheon of pretence, these Arms are the same as those of Bradhsaw of Pennington. His crest was on a mount vert, in front of an oak tree a stag trippent, proper.
Edward Bradshaw died 21 October 1671 in Chester, Cheshire, England in his 67th year. His willl dated 3 Sep 1670 was proved in 1671. Edward is buried in St Peters Church Chester His will named, besides his children, kinswoman Elizabeth Bradshaw that lives in Bolton...cousins John Tarcliff and wife..."six silenced ministers"...the poor householders of Chester; the poor of Aspull where he was born among others.
